The Château du Paradis is an imposing building built around 1870 by two brothers who had started a local sugar factory. Known to be a place where workers were welcome to come and talk with the family, it has been a notable property in the small town of Thumeries in northern France ever since. It has passed through different hands over the years and is now owned by Chris and Norah Morton, who hope to see it restored to a central role in community life. Friendly and welcoming, they enjoy hosting small events, such as barbecues and apéritifs for local associations, as well as short-term guests in their B&B rooms on the top floor of the Château.
